Following the last cashew forum between Colombia, Ghana and Brazil, a delegation from Ghana made up of staff from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) and GIZ visited Colombia for a physical exchange from 29 March to 1 April 2022.
This exchange was organized and funded by the GIZ TONINA Project from Colombia with the support of the GIZ MOVE project.
Activities included field visits to cashew farms, nurseries, small processing units, experience sharing on cashew production, grafting technics, processing of nuts and by products, research, market, meetings with local government and agriculture department officials in Puerto Careno (department of VICHADA in Colombia), as well as policy and sector organizations.
The exchange ended with the official launch of the National Cashew Value Chain Committee on 1 April in the department of VICHADA, which also marks the recognition of the Cashew value chain in Colombia by the Ministry of Agriculture.
