Zambia is a landslide country that their new President Hakainde Hichilema calls the #LandLinkedCountry, adapted for trade with eight neighboring countries that love Nsima (Maize flour) a lot including these other African countries, and Zambia is the one of the leading corn exporters in the world. The idea of the Feed the World Project is to ensure that instead of exporting maize, Zambia produces the finished product of the Nsima which is Maize Maize Maize (UFA) because in doing so Zambia can create even more jobs in the country.
Zambia’s ‘Feed the World’ project has three campaign themes, one of which is
WHITE COLLAR AGRICULTURE CAMPAIGN
White collar farming is an initiative aimed at convincing working-class citizens to engage in agriculture, which is more profitable now, under the New Dawn government. This can be possible if urban dwellers team up with their friends and families in rural areas(villages). This partnership is very powerful in the sense that the person in an urban area (white collar citizen) has a business or job that gives him income and the knowledge that can support agriculture, having the education of know how to apply for a loan from the CDF district funds, banks and other lending organizations. Rural citizens can contribute by bringing their manpower and availability to ensure farming is properly managed for mass production.
GAISA CORN (CRUSHING) CAMPAIGN
GAISA maize grinding campaign is another very important initiative of Zambia’s Feed the World Project as it advocates encouraging Zambians both in rural and urban areas to simply grinding Gaisa corn and having their little one bread and their favorite breakfast flour which is even cheaper than buying a 25kg bag of corn flour which is more expensive than a 50-90kg bag of cornflour if you implement it yourself using your own corn. This initiative, if implemented, can give our government a chance to export large number of bags of maize flour without having shortage of maize flour in the country and in turn get more foreign currencies, the who can translate by a huge advantage to their economy and their beloved country Zambia.
FARM CAMPAIGN IN WINTER
Zambia has 752,000 km2 with over 42 million hectares of fertile arable land, only 1.5 million hectares are cultivated with more freshwater in rivers and lakes and plenty of groundwater that can sustain agriculture winter dry season which is another fundamental idea and important to produce more agricultural products in their country Zambia under the new dawn government.
EDUCATION AND AWARENESS
The “Feed the World” Zambia project can be implemented through radio, TV programmes and presentation tours which in turn can also create jobs for our artists and drivers which allows at the radio stations and I’m not sure if I’m not going to be able to do it again. June to November is the perfect time to raise awareness through radio, television and presentation tours to educate our farmers both in urban and rural areas by equipping them with knowledge necessary for the next farming season that the New Dawn government looking forward to breaking Zambia harvest record.
