Miss Dorothy Fafali Kwaku, a twelve-year-old Basic seven pupil of Adaklu Tsriefe Basic School in the Adaklu District, received a standing ovation after reciting a poem on the neglect of the Ghanaian culture.

Her rich poetic voice coupled with her artistic gestures were captivating and a cynosure of all eyes.

Miss Kwaku was given the standing ovation at the 41st Adaklu district Farmers Day celebration at Adaklu Tsriefe.

The Day was on the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”

Miss Kwaku used items such as beads, mortar and pestle, kente cloth and some other items to portray the rich Ghanaian culture.

She exuded confidence, sometimes displaying solemn facial expressions to buttress her point.

Miss Kwaku’s rhythmic voice was very captivating.

Her poem highlighted on the way the current generation dresses with the ladies exposing their vital parts to the public, their hairdos, a complete contrast of the older generation.

Miss Kwaku also in the poem pointed to the rampant indiscipline that permeated the very fabric of her generation which she said was affecting not only their academic performance but also their marriages.

She said her poem, culture, was not fetish as erroneously assumed by most people nor does it make one

She maintained that culture is the identity of every nation and urged the current generation to wholeheartedly embrace their culture.

Mr Jerry Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive praised Miss Kwaku for her brilliance and called on teachers of her School to “keep an eye on her” to enable her reach her full potential.

At the end of her presentation she received a  cash donation from the people as a sign of their appreciation and also as a form of motivation.
