The Western North Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has appealed to the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and other relevant stakeholders to consider establishing an ultra-modern Cocoa Museum in the Western North Region.
Mr Michael Kpingbi, the Western North Regional Director of GTA, said the facility, when established, would help preserve and showcase the history, heritage, technology, and human interest stories associated with cocoa production in the area.
He said it would also create an educational and tourism attraction capable of drawing visitors, researchers, students and tourists from across Ghana and beyond.
The Regional Director made the appeal at the 2026 Western North Regional Tourism Awards, which was under the theme: “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders: The Black Star Experience.”
The event was to reward excellence in facilities and service delivery to instil healthy competition among tourism and hospitality operators in the region.
Mr Kpingbi asked stakeholders in the Western North Region to take advantage of the Tourism Act, 2011 (Act 817) which provided a clear and transparent pathway for registration and licensing of tourism enterprises, noting that the GTA stood ready to guide all investors through that process.
He urged entrepreneurs, hoteliers, mining companies, development partners and others to consider investing in the region because of its vast economic opportunities.
The Regional Director congratulated all award winners and urged them to continue raising the standards and the quality-of-service delivery in their respective facilities so they could strive for recognitions beyond the regional level.
