Germany does not grow cocoa but can boast of a chocolate museum. Located in Cologne, The Schokoladen Museum ( Chocolate Museum) showcases the global story of cocoa and chocolate.
With his dream of having a chocolate museum with a fountain of an ending stream of chocolate, Hans Imhoff a native of Cologne and an entrepreneur started the chocolate museum on October 31, 1993.
The museum started operations on October 31, 1993, after 13 months of construction, and receives around 600,000 visitors a year who experience how chocolate products are crafted in both mechanised and manual processes.
The diversity of 5,000-years of cocoa’s cultural history is shown in the museum as well as modern chocolate production from the cocoa bean through to praline chocolate confectionery.
