Mr Patrick Dela Newman, the Bono Regional Director of Agriculture, says the region has targeted achieving 1.2 million metric tonnes of maize production in the 2026 crop season.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Newman said the directorate was satisfied with the maize production in the major season so far.
He said maize production in the region had not experienced any major challenge, and commended farmers for their hard work.
In a separate interview, Mr Bright Ebedi, the Monitoring and Evaluation and Budget Officer at the Bono Regional Directorate of Agriculture, said the projection was to be produced from 434,725.73 hectares of maize farms.
He said the Wenchi Municipality, Sunyani West and Tain Districts were the major maize production areas with farmers expecting to produce 2.75 metric tonnes from a hectare of maize farm.
