Calling all Founders building innovative agri-tech and food-tech companies for Africa!

delta40.com/innovationbasecampDelta40 is thrilled to launch an Innovation Basecamp in partnership with the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Bio Innovation Institute to catalyze, build and scale a larger ecosystem for agri-tech and food-tech entrepreneurs across Africa.

The Innovation Basecamp is a 10-day program for early-stage ventures with a 2-day Scale Summit for growth-stage ventures, investors, and partners in the agri- and food-tech sector with the following goals:

  • Catalyze new innovations

  • Accelerate existing innovations to scale

  • Form new partnerships in the ecosystem

The program will explore business models and financing/funding, commercialization and growth, market and industry analyses, regulatory considerations, as well as cross-ecosystems collaboration. Participants will engage in workshops, investor pitches for prize funding, panels with experts, in-field customer discovery, and networking with global VC investors, partners and key ecosystem players.

Programming Components

The 10-Day Basecamp Program will include:

  • Investment-readiness and curated investor introductions for agri- and food-tech ventures in Africa

  • ⁠⁠⁠Expert-led workshops covering industry trends, capital structure and fundraising, regulatory environment 

  • ⁠Business plan development and investor pitches

  • ⁠Time in the field gathering customer insights

  • ⁠Innovation and Human Centered Design workshops

  • ⁠Working groups with fellow entrepreneurs

  • ⁠Networking with other founders, investors, and ecosystem players

Eligibility

  • Geography – The company or the individual must be based in one of the following countries: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria or Denmark.
  • Stage – Companies of all stages are encouraged to apply, though this program is best tailored for companies at the Idea & MVP Stages. 

  • Sector  – All Agri-Tech and Food-Tech founders are welcome to apply. We are especially interested in companies building across the following subsectors: 

    • Food preservation and loss prevention

    • Agricultural inputs

    • Digital, technological, and financing innovation solutions in agriculture

    • Sustainable agriculture and nutrition

    • Alternative protein and novel foods.

  • African & Female Founders are highly encouraged to apply!
