European Forest Institute to launch project to strengthen forest governance

The European Forest Institute (EFI) is set to launch a project aimed at strengthening multistakeholder participation in the implementation of the FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreement and enhancing non-state actor engagement in tree tenure policy reform in Ghana.   

A statement issued by EFI and copied to the Ghana News Agency, Accra, on Thursday said, “The project, funded by the European Union, will be officially launched on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Tomreik Hotel in Accra.”

It said the event will bring together government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and private sector actors to introduce the project’s objectives and implementation arrangements.

“The project seeks to promote sustainable forest governance and legal timber trade in Ghana, building on the country’s recent milestone of issuing Africa’s first FLEGT timber license.
