Kukuom Agric SHS Headmaster appeals for gov’t support to upgrade facilities

Mr. Robert Osei Antwi the headmaster of Kukuom Agric Senior High School inthe Ahafo Region has appealed togovernment to upgrade the school’s facilities to improve academic performance. 

Kukuom Agric SHS headmaster appeals for urgent infrastructure support In an interviewwith the media after the school’s 50th anniversary celebration at Kukuom in the Asunafo South District, Mr.Antwi highlighted the school’s infrastructure challenges, which he saidwere hindering effective teaching and learning.

The school’s 50th anniversary celebration serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in education and infrastructure development, as Ghana strives to achieve its development goals.

He said institutions like Kukuom Agric SHS play a vital role in shaping the country’s future leaders and called for government intervention to address the issue and provide a conducive learning environment for students.

According to Mr.Antwiout of over 85 teachers, only six teachers, including himself, reside in the school due to lack of teachers’ accommodation.

He saidthe school has only four bungalows toaccommodate teachers taking cater of over 1,660 students, which has negatively impacted teaching, learning and student care.

The headmasterobserved the urgent need for a boarding house, new classroom block and other infrastructure to accommodate the school’s growing demands.

The. Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency and Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Eric Opoku, assured the school management that the government wouldtake necessary measures to improve and modernize the school’s infrastructure.

Mr. Opoku pledged to leverage his position in government to advocate for the facilities needed to support effective teaching and learning and advise the students to take their studies seriously for a brighter future.

“We will work to ensure that Kukuom Agric SHS becomes a model school in the region by providing quality education to our children,” he said. 

Mr George Yaw Djan, the Asunafo South District Chief Executive,promised to relay the school’s concerns to the authorities for attention, emphasizing the need for infrastructure development to support education in the district.
