Be the Change
ARCedtech is an education social impact start-up from India with a mission to make education meaningful and transformative through innovative products and processes that lead students to address the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
‘Be the Change’ is the mantra they want the younger generations to understand. For schools, they recommend integrating the SDGs in each subject. Their inspiration is the wisdom of the Dalai Lama, ‘When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts.’
The company started with 8 student handbooks for Grades 1 to 8 for one school in India in 2019. Three years later, they have grown to 10 books, a full-fledged digital course for 50+ schools in India and the Middle East, and have got strong interest from schools in Portugal, Germany, Turkey, and more. Ritu Malhotra, the co-founder of the startup, is currently a research fellow at International Sustainability Academy in Hamburg, Germany, which is supporting ARC’s mission to make climate education accessible to all.
According to Anit Gupta, the co-founder of the organization, ‘To teach students about the SDGs, it is important to educate and inspire teachers first, unless the teachers are confident, we cannot ignite the passion in students.’
ARCedtech conducts capacity-building workshops for teachers to empower and equip them to be responsible stewards of the planet. It also provides free teachers’ resource books to teachers with detailed lesson plans and additional resources for effective teaching-learning.
ARCedtech works with public and private schools in different geographies. Their work is a testimony of how everyone, no matter which strata of society, can contribute to saving the environment. In the words of Malhotra, ‘The pandemic has taught the world to work together for the common good. The content we have created should be accessible to children all across the world and we need partners to do that’.
The company is ready to scale and open to collaborations across the world to enable children from all backgrounds to be the change.
