Mr Baah Abdullaih, the 2025 Dormaa Central Municipal Best Farmer in the Bono Region has appealed for support to build a solar plant to manage his vegetable farm.

He said support from either the government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and corporate bodies for the installation of the plant would enable him to power a borehole he had personally constructed at Amasu to facilitate year-long production of the vegetables.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Amasu, Mr Abdullaih said the construction of the borehole cost him GHC24,230 and that had made him financially handicapped.

“There’s no electricity here to power the borehole to serve as an irrigation facility to water the crops”, he stated, saying that with the solar plant he would be able to produce more vegetables and other crops.

Mr Abdullaih called for government intervention for the cocoa license buyers to pay cocoa farmers so that they could use the money to reinvest in their farms, calling on the government to do more to tackle illegal mining activities too.
