The European Commission is seeking applications for the EU-Ghana Youth Empowerment Programme to empower young people to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ghana.
ThisĀ Call for proposalsĀ is also based on the Joint Programming Ghana 2021-2027, which mainstream youth empowerment and support to civil society throughout its priority areas. Support measures in favour of Civil Society will contribute to promote civil society as a catalyst forĀ developmentĀ through active citizen participation, as well as to increase civil societyās participation in the formulation and implementation of government policies and programmes in Ghana. The Call for Proposals is also built taking into account the Roadmap for European Unionās engagement with Civil Society in Ghana 2021-2024.
Objectives
- The specific objectives of this call for proposals are:
- SO (1): To enhance youth civil societyās engagement in public affair by strengthening individual and collective capacities of youth-led and youth-focused organizations.
- SO (2): To increase opportunities for young individuals in Ghana to act as leadersforĀ sustainable developmentĀ at social, economic, cultural and political level.
FundingĀ
- The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 2,610,000. The contracting authority reserves the right not to award all available funds.
- Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- minimum amount: EUR 2,500,000
- maximum amount: EUR 2,610,000
- Duration: The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 32 months nor exceed 40 months.
Eligibility
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be non-profit-making and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, internation (intergovernmental) organisation as defined by Article 156 of the EU Financial Regulation and
- be established in Ghana or a Member State of the European Union. This obligation does not apply to international organisations and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- be registered in Ghana by an instrument governed by the national law of Ghana and with an office located in Ghana and
- have a minimum of three years documented experience implementing projects in relation to the specific priorities of the call for proposals.
- The lead applicant must involve at least one Ghanaian youth organisation operating in Ghana at national or local level as a co-applicant.
