The Food Systems Innovation Challenge identifies and supports early-stage innovators developing practical, scalable solutions that strengthen the entire value chain.
They back innovators building solutions that improve food security, expand nutrition access, and create meaningful economic opportunities across the continent.

- Agricultural Production – Solutions improving farming practices, inputs, climate resilience, and productivity.
- Food Processing & Value Addition – Innovations that enhance food safety, extend shelf life, and create value-added products.
- Supply Chain & Logistics – Tools that strengthen storage, transport, market linkages, and distribution systems.
- Food Waste Reduction – Models that reduce post-harvest losses, recycle waste and promote circularity.
- Nutrition & Consumer Food Solutions – Products or platforms improving nutrition access, affordability, and food choices.

Eligibility
- The challenge is open to early-stage innovators, startups, researchers, youth-led and women-led teams working to solve critical food system challenges.
- If you are developing a viable and scalable solution that improves how Africa grows, processes, transports or consumes food, you are invited to apply.
