Bernice Senyo Fesu is the CEO of LAVITESSE, a Ghana rice brand distribution company which was started in 2019 with the distribution of one brand of Ghana rice. With her vision of impacting the lives of Ghanaian rice farmers, she quit her full time job as a Chartered Insurance Practitioner to venture into agribusiness.
“I decided to help the Ghanaian farmers to sell their Ghana rice stock when one fine morning, Citi FM announced a bumper harvest with few silos and less market. Empathy got me wanting to just contribute to the solution, so I started Ghana rice distribution with GHs300 from my car trunk”.
I sought the assistance of a friend David Adikah of Avnash. He was my knowledge angel investor. He guided me one step at a time on what to do and encouraged me each step of the way, she added.
“I thought to myself, this girl is too bold , I was enjoying distributing Ghana rice, corporate work, family life and school….I was enjoying it, I guess that’s one great reason why I thrived”.
When covid 19 struck, 50% of the workforce in her company had to be laid off. She happily opted to be part of the 50%. She took her benefits and used it as capital for her rice business. This marked her journey as a full time agripreneur.
She sold her car and with support from her husband she bought a van for rice distribution business. Currently, LAVITESSE has four different rice brand under its distribution and supplies healthy made in Ghana rice across Ghana.
Her vision is to be recognised globally as the Ghana Rice brand distributor of choice in the next five years.
