GHANA’S AGRICULTURE SECTOR WITHOUT STRONG RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS IS A DEAD SECTOR

An ongoing investigation by the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana shows continuous loss of vital lands and encroachment on most critical Agriculture Research Institutions.

Our findings point to several encroachments and in some cases, sales of research Institute lands to private developers.

The Chamber of Agribusiness finds this a very disturbing happening and wishes to respectfully bring this to the attention of the authorities regarding the implications and future negative impacts on the growth and development of the Agriculture Sector.

The following lands of some of the Nation’s top Agriculture and Science institutes have so far either been sold or have heavily been encroached on…

  1. Nungua Farms
  2. Animal Research Institute
  3. Armahia Dairy Farms

Agricultural Engineering  Services Directorate (AESD) is a technical directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture

A letter chanced upon by the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana shows the Agriculture Mechanization of Mofa is being moved to another location for a said Cantonment Redevelopment Project.

The Chamber is therefore pleading with the Sector Minister to intervene so our research experts will have peace of mind to work for the good of the country.
