The Krachi East Municipal Assembly in the Oti Region is gearing up to honour six exceptional farmers at the 40th National Farmers Day celebration in Dambai.
This year’s celebration will be on the theme: “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” underscoring Ghana’s commitment to adopting agricultural practices that address climate change challenges.
These outstanding individuals would receive awards in the following categories; Municipal Best Farmer, recognizing overall excellence in farming practices; Municipal Best Crop Farmer, honouring exceptional achievements in crop production; and Municipal Best Livestock farmer, celebrating outstanding contributions to livestock farming.
There is also a Municipal Best Female Farmer, empowering women in agriculture and acknowledging their successes; Municipal Best Youth Farmer, encouraging the next generation of farmers and agricultural leaders and also a Municipal Best Physically challenged Farmer, demonstrating inclusivity and appreciation for farmers who overcome unique challenges.
Mr. Emmanuel Minnah, the Municipal Director of Department of Food and Agriculture disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview.
He confirmed that all preparations were completed for the 40th National event in Dambai, and they were expecting a vibrant ceremony on Friday, November 8 at Lapaz Park.
“Individuals and stakeholders are urged to arrive early at the event center tomorrow morning to avoid the scorching sun, let’s come together to celebrate our hardworking farmers and then depart promptly after the ceremony,” Mr Minnah added.
