MP for Amenfi Central reaffirms commitment to support women in vegetable farming

Mrs Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi Central, has reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women in the constituency to venture into vegetable farming to help drive socio-economic growth in the area.   

vegetable exportsThe project, she said, would be done in batches with the first at Wassa Agona Amenfi, which would focus on lettuce, cabbage, pepper, spring onions, and carrot farming.

She said as part of the project, she would support the women to acquire lands and access financial assistance.

Mrs Cudjoe emphasized the potential of vegetable farming as a lucrative source of income and an avenue for women to become economically self-sufficient and independent.

“This is an opportunity for women’s group to collectively engage in vegetable farming with the guidance and support from the MP and technical experts,” she said.

The MP said the project would improve the production and access to vegetables in the district and enhance the livelihoods of the women.

She said: “Women play an immense role in their families and development of rural economies through food production and security, so we are appealing to other stakeholders to support them with both financial and technical assistance.”
