He has, therefore, begun the distribution of some 9,500 cashew and mango seedlings to all basic schools in the area.

The MP, who is also the Deputy Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, launched the “Green Environmental Clubs” at Kuroboi in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region.

“I am supplying 8,000 cashew and 1,500 mango seedlings to all basic schools in the municipality,” Mr Chinnia said.

“My office will work with all the clubs in the schools for the successful implementation of this programme, which is intended to plant trees around the school environment and water bodies in the communities.”

He promised to share exercise books and pens for club members and award the school that would ensure a 100 per cent growth of the seedlings.

The MP indicated that there would also be a radio-based quiz competition among the basic school pupils to improve learning outcomes.

Mr Sumaila Doho, the Presiding Member of the Sissala East District Assembly, urged the chiefs and people to protect and preserve the environment to complement the efforts of the MP.

Kuoro Alhaji Dimah Attah Jakpa, the Chief of Nwanduanu, appealed to the MP to support the community with a dam.
