Nafesat Lawal’s ‘Go Green’ photo has been adjudged the second-best photo in the NGIN photo competition. Her work and pictures were internationally recognized and celebrated in Rome at the World Food Forum event.
Nafesat Lawal’s photo was awarded a 500 Euro prize.
I represent Nigeria, and I bring the prize home. Let’s celebrate the Made in Nigeria award-winning champion, she said.
Why is the caption “Go Green”?
This award-winning picture tells a story about a young female agronomist and extensionist who met a group of farmers in her home country, Nigeria. This group of farmers is finding it difficult to germinate their seed, and their cultural practices seem to be challenging.
Nafesat Lawal, the young agronomist, was opportune to meet these farmers, understand their situation, and provide a solution. She introduced and demonstrated an improved method of seed germination and quality seed raising.
Nafesat Lawal was full of excitement to see the young plants doing well, and she confidently flagged two seedling trays and said to the farmers, Let’s go green and waste no more seeds.
The young scientists’ moments of excitement are summarized in a few lines.
“It’s always fulfilling to go green; waste no more, and together we can go green.”
