The Startupper of the year Challenge by TotalEnergies is back in 32 African countries for a special edition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Company!
The aim of this 4th edition is to support and encourage young African entrepreneurs to innovate and bring their projects to reality in their country of application.
Are you owning a startup less than 3 years old or pioneering with a business idea to develop? If so, the challenge is for you!

Become one of the 100 Startuppers of the year by TotalEnergies, rewarded among one of our category.
- 1 Winner per category will be rewarded in each participating country
- 4 additional Winners will be selected by an international jury in the Power’Up category
1. Innov’Up
To reward the best entrepreneurs, should they own a startup of less than three years or come with a mature business idea.
2. Cycl’Up
To reward startup or business ideas exemplifying the principle of circular economy.
3. Power’Up
To reward startups or business ideas which aim to promote, create, produce or use sustainable and affordable energies.
Benefits
- Financial Support – To support the development of your startup or business idea.
- Media Visibility – To highlight the winners and their startup/business idea in the media, with a dedicated local communication plan.
- Coaching – To support the winners in a personalized way, depending on the maturity of the startup/idea and their needs.
- 100 Startuppers event – To take part in a major entrepreneurial event and connect with key players in the African entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Eligibility
- You must be between 18 and 35 years old (born between May 1, 1988 and April 30, 2006)
- A startup – Under 3 years old with a registration in the application country no earlier than April 30, 2020
- You must be a resident of the country where you apply
- A business idea – Which could be developed a few months after the challenge

- West Africa – Ivory Coast, Senegal, Guinea Conakry, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Ghana, Togo
- Central Africa – Gabon, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea
- East Africa & Indian Ocean – Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mayotte, La Réunion
- Southern Africa – Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Malawi, South Africa
