Young women in the Ketu North Municipality are set to benefit from a poultry production training programme aimed at creating employment opportunities and promoting agribusiness among the youth.
The initiative, dubbed “Digitalising Agriculture in Africa – Poultry Training for Young Ladies in the Volta Region,” is being organised under a partnership involving FILMA, the Mastercard Foundation and Temple Investments, and implemented by Agroinnova.
The training, scheduled for Monday, June 22, 2026, at the Ketu North Municipal Assembly Hall in Dzodze, will target young women aged between 18 and 35 years who are interested in starting poultry farming businesses.
Participants will receive practical training in key areas, including starting broiler farming, the application of technology in broiler production, and broiler marketing.
Mr Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in an interview, said the programme was designed not only to equip participants with technical skills but also to create sustainable employment opportunities for young people, particularly women.
He said empowering young women through agriculture was essential to addressing unemployment while promoting food security and economic growth.
“This training will provide not just skills in poultry production, but also create job opportunities for the youth, especially young women, who are interested in venturing into agribusiness,” he said.
Mr Agbana said he remained committed to supporting initiatives that empowered young people to become economically independent through modern agriculture.
He encouraged eligible young women in the municipality to take advantage of the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge and build sustainable businesses in the poultry value chain.
The programme forms part of broader efforts to promote youth participation in agriculture by leveraging technology and innovative approaches to increase productivity and create decent jobs.
