Dr Smauel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Baord Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has asked staff of the Board to prepare themselves for the start of the 24-hour economy.

He said COCOBOD needed to position itself to take advantage of the Policy to continue to contribute to the development of the Ghanaian economy.

Dr Ofosu-Ampofo made the call when, he led some Board Members to visit the warehouse and offices of the Quality Control Company and Cocoa Marketing Company to familiarise themselves with their operations and activities.

The visit also took the delegation to Cocoa Village.

He said with the launch of the 24-hour economy by President John Dramani Mahama, there was the need to expand the scope of Cocobod’s operations and increase the level of efficiency.

“The Board cannot operate under the Policy without expanding its activities and infrastructure,” he added.

The Board Chairman said if the country wanted to keep on holding its head high and championing the Cocoa industry, then, “we ought to pay particular attention to how we can jealously protect the quality of Ghana’s Cocoa.”

He commended staff at the various departments for playing a very critical role in ensuring that the country was able to keep the quality and show quality assurance in keeping the premium very high.

The Board Chairman said, “we have come to assure you that we need to work together and also work in synergies to enhance and improve on the Board’s operations.”

He said that approval had been given for management to purchase operational vehicles to ensure efficiency and resolve one of the challenges facing the departments.

“We believe that some of the revenue that we generate should be ploughed back into the organisation in terms of improving the logistics that you use to do our work,” he added.

With the issues of security, improvements in ICT infrastructure, Dr Ofosu-Ampofo said the Board would work with the Management to provide the State of the Arts CCTV to improve security.

He said the Board had listened to all the challenges and would work to address most of them.

The Chairman, together with the delegation, also visited some warehouses.
